Mecanum’s Beta Cabin is the solution to quickly measure diffuse field sound absorption coefficient and sound transmission loss on small samples. The quasi-diffuse field inside of the chamber is generated by four uncorrelated loudspeakers. A microphone antenna is used to evaluate the sound field inside the chamber. Sound absorption coefficient is measured using a proprietary procedure similar to ASTM C423 and ISO 354. Sound transmission loss is measured by estimating the incident power from the quasi-diffuse field inside the cabin and measuring the transmitted power via a sound intensity scan at the surface of the sample. The method is similar to ISO 15186.
